Who we are

Temi Technologies operates Egret, a platform for registering farms and agricultural businesses in Nigeria. Trained field agents use the Egret Field mobile app to record farm details, in person and with the farmer’s consent. This policy explains what information we handle, why, and the choices you have.

Who this policy covers

Two groups of people:

  • Field agents — the people who sign in to the app to collect data.
  • Farmers — the people and businesses whose details an agent records, after obtaining their consent.

Information we collect

From field agents (account holders): name, email address, sign-in credentials, a device identifier, and basic diagnostic data used to keep the app reliable.

About farmers (recorded by an agent, with consent):

  • the farm or business name and the representative’s name;
  • contact details — phone number, and email address if provided;
  • the farm’s precise location (GPS coordinates) and its community, LGA, and state;
  • livestock and holdings information (types and numbers);
  • photographs of the farm and their technical metadata;
  • a record that the farmer gave consent, and when.

We do not knowingly collect any special-category data beyond what is described above, and farmers may decline to be recorded.

How we collect it

A field agent enters the information in person during a visit, after explaining the purpose and obtaining the farmer’s consent. Location is read from the device’s GPS to pin the farm accurately. Records are stored on the device and sent to our servers when there is a connection.

Why we use it

We use the information to run the service and, above all, to help the farmers whose farms are recorded:

  • to warn farmers of disease outbreaks reported near their farm, and to route veterinary help and supplies to the right place;
  • to give farmers guidance that helps improve their farm’s output;
  • to build and maintain an accurate farm register, verify records, and detect duplicates;
  • to map farm locations and produce operational statistics;
  • to operate, secure, and improve the service.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How it is shared

We share information only as needed to run the platform. This includes a small number of trusted service providers — for example, secure hosting, email delivery, and location/region look-ups — who process data solely on our instructions and not for their own purposes. Information may also be shared with the organisation responsible for the farm programme this data is collected for, and where required by law.

How we protect it

Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and stored on access-controlled servers. Access is limited to authorised staff on a need-to-know basis, and every record is traceable to the agent, device, and moment of capture.

How long we keep it

We keep records for as long as needed for the farm register and the programme it supports, and as required by applicable law. Farmers may ask us to correct or delete their information (see below).

Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including Nigeria’s data-protection framework), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information, or withdraw consent. To make a request, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time.

Children

Egret Field is a tool for registering agricultural businesses and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
